PHOENIX, AZ — July 1, 2026 — The Phoenix Police Museum proudly announces the formal adoption of its newly refined institutional Mission Statement alongside an inaugural set of Core Value Pillars, Steve Campbell, the Executive Director said. “These values are deeply rooted in the museum’s long-standing motto, ‘Preserve the past to Inspire the future.’ The mission and value standards provide definitive roadmap for the museum’s educational programing, curatorial directives, and community engagement initiatives for generations to come.”

The strategic expansion bridges the department’s deep Southwestern heritage—dating back to the pioneering desert marshals of 1881—with its present-day status as a modern urban public safety institution. By formalizing these foundational statements, the museum recommits its duty to serve not only as a repository of historical artifacts, but as an active, living bridge of mutual understanding and unwavering integrity between the Phoenix Police Department and the diverse community it serves.

Complementing the renewed mission and vision is the official adoption of the Phoenix Police Museum Core Values. The guiding principles will directly govern how exhibits are curated and how fiscal responsibilities are executed. The principles also reflect how the brave stories of public service are shared with the thousands of students, residents, and global travelers who walk through the museum’s doors annually.

  1. Integrity First
  2. Service through Education
  3. Legacy of Honor
  4. Community Connection
  5. Purposeful Inspiration

By bringing forward critical components of constitutional history—including housing the booking and confession records of the landmark 1966 Miranda case—alongside the solemnity of the Officer Memorial Room, the Phoenix Police Museum continues to provide an irreplaceable, transparent space for public reflection. The board, staff, and volunteers are united in utilizing this renewed framework to spark productive conversations, inspire civic duty, and honor the true legacy of sacrifice that protects the city of Phoenix every day.

Located inside the Historic Phoenix City Hall at Washington Street and 2nd Avenue, the Phoenix Police Museum is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) educational institution. The museum chronicles the vibrant history of law enforcement in the Phoenix metropolitan area from 1881 to the present day. Featuring interactive historical displays, vintage department vehicles, specialized tactical gear, and a dedicated memorial to fallen officers and K-9 heroes, the museum serves as a critical educational hub and cultural destination promoting community partnership and mutual civic respect.
